Fantastic discount but I received the old version of this model. It can easily be identified by the battery box not having screws that require removal for inserting/removing batteries. The revised version has 19 extra small parts (2129 total) but beware Lego still use the original box artwork which claims the original 2110 parts. These extra parts prevent the bonnet & doors opening on steep descents.

I am a real Technic and Ideas fan. I have the Grand Piano, Typewriter and CAT bulldozer. I found this kit on offer at Amazon for 30% off. Many of the reviews seem less than enthusiastic. I beg to differ. I am really enjoying this build. There is plenty of variety, minimal repetition and lots of very clever reinforcement and articulation. Some folks seem to compare it with a radio-controlled vehicle. I am in it for the building/learning experience. The rrp seems rather steep but the quality is superb.

I thoroughly enjoyed building this, instructions were mostly clear and the building very satisfying. The final product looks good and functions well.
Some people have commented on how slow it is, this is true but clearly is by design. The motors are not slow, it is how the gears have been designed to provide more torque and less speed.
It can climb pretty steep ramps, particularly with the differential lock engaged, however it’s ground clearance is not great due to the axels. This means it can easily get stuck on rough terrain.
Admittedly while I enjoyed building it, I am now considering taking it apart and repurposing it’s parts for a custom build. For the money spent I want it to be more exciting, as it stands it looks great, but not particularly fun to drive. I have no regrets over my purchase though.

This is another great set from lego, good piece count, interesting build, lots of detail too, I like that it has motors, making it a good trial truck, that is very capable off-road, it’s very slow, however speed isn’t a requirement when climbing 45° plus inclines. The set itself has 4 wheel drive, with a lockable diff, switched remotely via the control+ app. The set is quite sturdy and robust, however the doors and bonnet tend to open up when travelling down-hill, especially it the surface is rough, this is easily rectified using some half pins in the door which locks into the door jamb, and one in the bonnet that locks into the bulkhead. Overall the set represents good value for money, considering the reduced price i bought it at and that the rrp is £265. Highly recommend this set.
