Despite the incredible array of pretenders to the Lego throne, the fact is that there’s something about Lego that makes it just a bit better than anyone else. Is it being original? Or the feel? Or the design? Don’t know, but the fact is that somehow it’s just better.

And the price of it reflects it too…..

So, here we have Lego for the Harry Potter fans of which there are legion. Including my own adult kids who grew up with JK Rowlings stories and now their children, my grandchildren who also love the books.

Now, I have a pair of twin grandchildren – The Bubs – a boy and girl or eight. And thus we decided that this Lego set – cheers Amazon – would be a nice thing to make together as they were staying over. Can’t post any piccies because the Amazon review system rightly excludes any containing children. However, we set ourselves up at the kitchen table after tea and set too it.

Now, neither of my grandchildren are super into Lego unfortunately. They found computer games a tad too early I think. But, due to loving the books and a bit of encouragement from me we put this together and had a pleasant time together doing it.

And that’s part of what Lego is about at this age. Some eight year olds might easily do this set but the majority I suspect would like a bit of help from Mum or Dad or even an old bloke like me. And spending time together being constructive is worth the money.

So, overall whilst expensive for what it is, the joy of making stuff is worth it.
